Lesley Carson,
Musical Director

Ken Patchen,
Master of
Ceremonies

Ken Patchen was the managing director of a large frozen food company until his recent retirement. He found that barbershop harmony was the panacea to the stressful position he held. Ken is one or our longer-serving members, he joined the our club nearly 20 years ago after attending one of our concerts and getting well and truly hooked.
His huge sense of humour makes him the obvious choice for the front man of the chorus and his undoubted talents in this area brings an extra dimension to Harmony Revival’s shows.

Jim Mason,
Deputy
Musical Director

After retiring from a 35-year career teaching science and A-level chemistry Jim joined Harmony Revival in 2004 as something to do in his his spare time.
Even though qualified in other forms of singing he knew very little about the Barbershop style when he started with the chorus. Every year he has attended both Directors’ College and Harmony College and finds that the expertise gained during these sessions provided by B.A.B.S. has given him the confidence to assist Lesley and to benefit from her vast experience.
Jim lives in Hayfield, in the High Peak area of Derbyshire, with his wife Lesley.

Lesley has recently joined Harmony Revival as musical director. She is still the musical director of Heartbeat, a local ladies barbershop chorus which competes at national and international levels with great success. Heartbeat’s latest achievement is the Bronze medal at the 2009 European Barbershop Championships in Holland. Lesley, herself an acapella gold medallist, formed her chorus in 1997 with just six members and now has the unenviable job of keeping 45 ladies in order.
Her experience expands over 23 years, previously enjoying great success with barbershop ladies’ chorus the Cheshire Chord Company and the Liberty Belles’ gold medal winning quartet Montage.
